My easy crispy fried chicken recipe is simple yet delicious. Fried chicken is one of those recipes that is very versatile and can be made with so many different ways of frying and seasoning. You can spice it up, air fry it, deep fry it, pan fry it, pressure fry it, do a wet and dry batter, or fry it using a wet batter only. Marinading is another way of imparting tons of flavor, along with so many other ways you can play around with to make crispy fried chicken.
Believe me, I have tried it all and love the versatility of frying chicken, and think all these ways are great. I love to switch it up and play around with different spices and marinades. But my favorite way of frying chicken is a method that I’ve used for years to get that crunchy fix in and is quite simple yet very delicious!
How to make my easy crispy fried chicken recipe?

I like to start by rinsing my chicken in cold water and letting it sit out for at least 30 minutes on the counter to take off the chill to ensure an even fry. Yes, it is controversial when it comes to rinsing or washing chicken versus just seasoning and frying straight out of the pack. I would say, to each it’s own.
I have always rinsed my chicken in cold water, drained off the access water, then immediately sanitized my sink and hands, and have never had a problem with cross-contamination. But if someone feels differently, that is perfectly fine. You should do what is best in your household with how you feel about certain situations when it comes to raw meat. Well enough about that, let’s get to the next step.
What seasonings work best for fried chicken?
When it comes to seasoning chicken, use the seasonings you like. Everyone’s taste buds are different. While someone might like a spicy garlicky chicken, another may like a milder toned-down version. There is no right or wrong way to season chicken, use whatever flavors you love.

Here are some of my favorite flavors I use to season quick crispy fried chicken. Paprika, sea salt, Lawry’s seasoned salt, onion powder, black pepper, and accent salt for flavor enhancement.

Another great trick is to measure and combine your seasonings as a spice mix in a small bowl and season your chicken to your desired likeness. You can also season your flour for extra flavor!

Place your seasoned chicken in flour then pack the chicken firmly until covered then shake off any residual flour.

Allow your chicken to rest on a wire rack for a few minutes before frying to ensure the flour has adhered to the chicken for crunchy goodness.
Temperature for frying the perfect crispy fried chicken?

Make sure the oil has come up to a temperature of 350 degrees F before frying. I like to use a deep fryer that has a temperature controller that can be adjusted to stay at the perfect frying temperature. This ensures a perfect fry every time but is also not necessary if you don’t have a deep fryer.
You can use a heavy bottom pot like a Dutch oven or a regular deep pot to fry with. If you are going to fry this way, I would suggest getting a candy thermometer to keep your oil at the correct temperature for frying chicken.
Overcrowding can lead to a drastic drop in temperature
One important note is to never crowd your pot, pan, or deep fryer with too many pieces of chicken at once. Overcrowding can lead to a drastic drop in your frying temperature which can lead to oily chicken. The overall fry of it won’t turn out correctly.
If I am deep frying wing sections, I will usually fry about 6 wing sections at a time for about 12 minutes in cook time before it’s finished frying. If frying whole chicken wings, I would suggest frying about 4 or 5 chicken wings at a time for about 15 minutes in fry time. You can insert an instant read thermometer into the chicken to make sure it’s fully cooked. The internal temperature needs to reach 165 degrees F.
Then get ready to enjoy delicious crispy fried chicken that is so easy and something to savor and enjoy time and time again!
Happy Frying! 🙂
